My Footprints in Snow

Starting a trip with no prior plans is always fun and memorable. Whenever I plan to enjoy butterflies of winters in advance it end up converting into my dream trip. But last January in 2019 I just pack my bag and left for Shimla with no pre-plans in mind. On my way to Shimla I check-out some home-stay options and book the one on the outskirts approx 5 kilometres from Shimla.

Two reasons to choose my stay in outskirts : 1. Cost effective 2. Less crowded

City View

Day 1: After reaching to Shimla in the morning around 10 am it took me 2 hours to reach my home-stay due to heavy traffic because of snowfall in last 2 days. At that moment I was happy and sad both, happy as my dream trip might get fulfill this time and sad because my luck of enjoying snowfall is like experiencing the shooting star in the cloudy sky. After getting fresh I decided to take a walk to Mall road from my place. Though the roads were quit sleepy but I manage to walk and reach at Mall road. I spent my day hanging around the markets : Lakkar Bazaar, Mall Road, Lower Bazaar & Tibetan Market. I end my day by spending my evening in The Brew Estate on Mall road, they offer u taster for almost 6 different beers to taste and choose your drink for rest of the evening. They have proper factory setup inside the club to give you tour on how they make the beer from raw.

The Brew Estate- I Love Shimla

Day 2 : Started my day bit early to avoid traffic on my way to Kufri. Kufri is always been my favorite place to hangout whether its summer or winter, both the seasons gave you different look and flavor of Kufri. In summers its altogether a different destination for people to enjoy peace and nature far from crowd of Shimla you can also enjoy the various adventures in Kufri and near by. Mahasu Peak in Kufri gave you breathtaking view of Kedarnath and Badrinath ranges from its one of the highest points. At Mahasu Peak there is a Nag temple which open once in a year on Nag Panchami. In winters its a perfect place to enjoy the snow in Himachal.

Kufri Road

After reaching to Kufri roads are blocked to Mahasu Peak due to heavy snow so I decided to enjoy at that very spot. I started walking towards Mahasu Peak and starting searching for less crowded lanes where I can enjoy snow in every possible way I can.

I started playing in snow like a small kid, laying down in snow, making snow man, throwing snow balls here and there, had tea and Maggie.

As I mention earlier enjoying butterflies of winters is my dream trip and unplanned trips are always memorable, this time I got my dream trip done with lots of snowfall and Zero degree temperature.

My footprints in snow left all over the Kufri road to remember me till my next visit. Back to Mall road after wonderful day buy Waterfall Apple wine almost 15 years old made in Shimla only & some food for dinner & enjoyed back at my home-stay.

It takes approx 7-8 hours from Delhi – Shimla by road depend on the road condition and the season you are travelling. If you are train lover than you can enjoy your ride from Delhi – Kalka and Kalka – Shimla via toy train. Journey of toy train will give immense view of hills and unexplored views of Himalayas.
